New Zealand - A Land of Adventure

Not only is New Zealand one of the most scenic places in the world, it is also a massive hub for thrill-seekers and those who love odd encounters. Travellers from all over the world will participate in activities that can get the heart pumping, or explore small towns and festivals that have a flair for the eccentric. No matter one's taste for excitement or eyebrow raising, this destination offers a little bit of everything to the adventurous traveller. Whether it is New Zealand walking tours highlighting the rare wildlife, or skydiving seemingly straight into a glacier lake, a journey here is sure to be unforgettable.

Wet and wild

This country loves setting world records. Recently, they unveiled the largest inflatable waterslide in the world - now open and ready to take on visitors from all over the world. At Tekapo Springs, young and young at heart visitors can ride Trippo - the first of its kind outside the U.S. This giant slide is 52 metres long and 11 metres wide, accommodating several people at once. Children and adults can ride the slide all day, taking breaks to enjoy the other activities offered at this naturally beautiful hotspot. Alongside the new Trippo slide, guests can explore the skating rink, tube park, hot pools and luxurious day spa. All situated at the base of Mount John and Lake Tekapo, this is a destination in itself, full of thrills and relaxation.

Luge with the family

Those with little ones in tow do not have to be left out of the action while in New Zealand. Walking itineraries should include a visit to the Skyline Rotorua Luge. It is an adventure in itself and the large track is always full of people flying down the concrete lanes. This complex has welcomed millions of riders over the years to enjoy an activity similar to bobsledding, or even skateboarding, but without snow or even having to stand up! You'll sit in go-kart-like vehicles that propel down the hill by the force of gravity alone or, if you don't fancy a journey that fast, simply take a gondola ride to the summit and observe, admiring gorgeous mountain views along the way.

A classic activity

Arguably, this tiny country put the art of bungee jumping on the map. New Zealand walking tours are one thing, but why not see what all the fuss is about and at least be a spectator as a seemingly endless parade of willing people throw themselves off of cliffs, bridges and other mind-boggling heights. Incredibly, bungee jumping has been alive and well here for more than 25 years, with the first commercial one being created at Kawarau Bridge. Visit this historic spot and try it for yourself or just watch and learn from others, which have included celebrities Tiger Woods and Jack Black.
